Herfsakker Old Age Home is grateful for any donations that ensure the well-being of our elderly people in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga

• Herfsakker is situated in Nelspruit and makes provision for the care of 82 frail older and disabled persons, of all races, which requires 24-hour specialized nursing care as well as assisted living services to 15 residents living in the cottages on the property.
  
  
•  In addition to the above,  Herfsakker is actively involved in community outreach projects and the training of health care worker students.  Herfsakker is furthermore involved in advocacy and lobbying for the rights of older and disabled persons in South Africa.
  
  
•  Herfsakker, in conjunction with the Nelspruit Community Forum, will soon be opening a transitional house/shelter for 23 homeless and destitute persons on its premises
  
  
• In order to comply with the Older Person’s Act and the minimum norms and standards for services to older persons in South Africa, Herfsakker has embarked on a fundraising strategy for the installation of a closed circuit television system (CCTV) for our home.  The installation of such a system will not only prevent the abuse of older and disabled persons but will enhance the quality of care provided to our residents.  The cost involved in the installation of the system is R450 000.00

Herfsakker has a dire need for toiletries as the majority of our residents is recipients of social grants and cannot afford to purchase the products.  The toiletries needed include the following:

• Shampoo
• PREP cream for the prevention of pressure sores
• Toothpaste
• Tooth brushes
• Toilet soap
• Deodorant for him and her
• Roll on for him and her
• Face cloths
• Towels
• Combs and brushes
• Disposable razors (not BIC as they damage the skin)
• Tissues
• Toilet paper
• Body lotion

 

 

Should you and your company wish to donate toiletries to our home, you are welcome to drop it at our facility located at 81, Acacia Crescent, West Acres, Nelspruit (opposite Lowveld High sports grounds) or alternatively we will collect it from you. 

 

This is a wonderful opportunity for your staff to contribute towards charity just before the Festive season.

In the event of your company wanting to make a financial contribution towards the installation of the CCTV system, you are welcome to deposit the monies into our bank account.
